Workshop only $85 (no materials) or Workshop + materials $185 (includes 1 grade of Musicplay teacher’s guide or Digital Resources, OR $100 materials credit). Materials can be chosen at the workshop from any Themes & Variations publication.
In this workshop, Denise will take teachers through strategies to get children singing, reading rhythm and creating with rhythm. You will:
- sing, learn vocal warmups for kids and for teacher, play singing games, move, and learn to read rhythms - even if you’re not a music specialist!
- learn to compose using manipulatives and create and perform rhythm compositions using body percussion, found sounds, rhythm instruments and Boomwhackers
- create accompaniments to to poems and songs
- connect music and literacy
- play rhythm games, compose and do assessments on the computer
- learn assessment strategies for assessing skills, concepts and creations, and view rubrics, checklists and other assessment tools
- respond to music and reinforce your reading skills using movement and rhythm
- have a fun and interactive day - receive a great handout with all activities outlined
